CLIMBING SUMMER CAMP
Can you imagine climbing for a week in one of Norway's most iconic destinations?
A five-day climbing experience in Lofoten, with plenty of time on the rock and space to enjoy the landscape around it.
WHY TO CHOOSE THIS ADVENTURE
If you're a climber with experience in indoor climbing but lack outdoor rock climbing skills, or if you want to try trad climbing for the first time, this camp is for you.
Climbing in Lofoten hits different!
Over five days, you will learn trad climbing in one of the world’s best spots, sharpening your skills, gaining confidence on rock, and climbing iconic routes that will stick in your memory. You’ll practice placing gear, reading lines, managing rope systems, and picking up all the little tricks that make climbing safer and more enjoyable. Every day brings new challenges and new routes, with the kind of granite, angles, and exposure that makes Lofoten so unique.
Climbing here is challenging, rewarding, and exactly what every climber dreams of. And once you try it, you’ll understand why so many come back.

But Lofoten in summer is much more than just climbing.
With the midnight sun, the days don’t really end.
After climbing, anything can happen: a late hike at 10 pm, a spontaneous barbecue with people from the hostel, a kayak session, a swim at an empty white-sand beach or jumping into someone else’s plan that suddenly sounds too good to miss.
Every day is a mix of climbing, learning and squeezing as much as possible out of Lofoten while you’re here.
If climbing is your thing and you want a week where everything revolves around it: routes, people, landscape and long summer days, this is hard to beat!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is transport included?
The nearest airport is Leknes Airport (LKN), about a 15‑minute drive from Stamsund Hostel.
There are two other airports in the Lofoten region:
-
Svolvær Airport (SVJ) – about 1h 15min by car to Stamsund.
-
Evenes/Harstad-Narvik Airport (EVE) – about 3h 45 min by car to Stamsund.
If you fly into Svolvær or Evenes, you will need to rent a car to reach us. Although the drive is longer, the scenery along the fjords and mountain passes is spectacular and well worth it. If, on the other hand, you fly into Leknes Airport, we can arrange a transfer from the airport for you.
For the daily activities, participants will also need access to a vehicle. You can arrange car rental directly through Stamsund Hostel at a discounted rate. We’ll put you in touch with other participants so you can share the cost of the rental.
Is food included?
Meals are not included in the camp price. However, there’s a supermarket just a 5‑minute walk from Stamsund Hostel, and the hostel provides a fully equipped kitchen where you can cook together and share meals with your fellow participants.
Do I need my own equipment?
All climbing gear is included in the camp price (harnesses, helmets, crash pads, ropes, trad protection, and more). However, if you have your own personal equipment (harness, helmet, shoes, etc.), we recommend bringing it for the best fit and comfort.
What should I bring?
-
Appropriate clothing for outdoor activities
-
Hiking boots and climbing shoes
-
Warm waterproof jacket (weather here can change quickly, even in summer).
-
Personal climbing gear (harness, helmet, etc.) if you have it
-
Towel and swimwear for sauna and paddleboarding
-
Reusable water bottle and sunscreen
Do I need accident insurance?
The camp does not include accident insurance. Participants must have their own valid mountain activity insurance.
Is this camp for me?
This camp is designed for intermediate climbers (those who routinely send 5a–6c (5.8–5.10) on gym walls or sport routes) and who are ready to make the leap onto real rock.
You’ll benefit most if you already feel comfortable clipping quickdraws and moving confidently on vertical terrain, but want hands‑on experience placing trad gear, managing anchors, and climbing in an inspiring Arctic environment.
