THE PHENOMENON
The northern lights are one of nature’s most extraordinary shows, and Lofoten is one of the best places on Earth to witness them.
Our Northern Lights Hunt is led by an expert guide specialized in auroras and photography. It’s not just about waiting for the sky to light up; it’s about understanding the phenomenon, reading the conditions, and chasing the right moment.
THE EXPERIENCE
We begin at a meeting point where you’ll get to know your guide and the rest of the group. After a short introduction, the guide will explain the current aurora forecast and the weather conditions that will shape our evening.
From there, we set off together, moving between selected spots chosen by the guide according to the conditions of the night. While we wait and watch the sky, you’ll learn how auroras are formed, why they appear, and what makes Lofoten such a special place to see them.
If we know that possibilities are very low due both of aurora and weather forecast we will cancel. Before cancelling we always give the option to the guests if they want or not have the night out.
Photography is part of the adventure. Along the way, the guide will share tips on how to capture the northern lights with your own camera, from settings to composition. But don’t worry if you don’t have a camera! We will share the best pictures with you at the end of the journey. You'll go home with images and memories of a unique Arctic night.

Spectacular hikes with TRAD!
I had never used crampons or snowshoes and they helped me a lot. We did several routes and everything was great.
Furthermore, their recommendations (places to eat, saunas, accommodation, routes, towns, views...) were all amazing.
They are very nice and very professional. Without a doubt, the best option to get to know Lofoten!
