THE EXPERIENCE
In summer, this is one of the busiest trails in the islands. In winter, the mud freezes, the crowds vanish, and you get the ridge to yourself. We take you up there safely. Choosing the route based on the morning snow, keeping the group small, and bringing the right gear so you can focus on the walk.
HOW WE DO IT?
We keep groups at a maximum of 8 people. No giant tour groups, no rushing.
Before leaving we check your boots and gear. If the trail is hard ice, we use microspikes. If there is deep fresh snow, we use snowshoes. We carry both in the van so you do not have to worry.
The walk takes around 5 to 6 hours total. We keep a steady pace, stop for hot drinks when we reach the viewpoint over the ocean, and make sure everyone stays warm and comfortable.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
You do not need previous winter hiking experience. If you can walk for five hours on normal mountain paths in summer, you can do this.
We take solo travellers, couples, and small groups who want to get out into the mountains without worrying about route-finding, avalanche safety, or buying technical winter gear for a three-day trip.
If you are looking for an easier, more relaxed walk in the snow without much elevation, take a look at our Scenic Winter Hike in Kabelvåg instead.
FAQ
Do I need prior experience with snowshoes or crampons?
No. If you can walk for five hours on regular mountain paths in summer, you can do this hike. We brief you on how to use microspikes or snowshoes before we start. It takes less than five minutes to get comfortable.
What happens if the weather turns bad on the mountain?
Lofoten weather changes fast. If high winds, ice, or poor visibility make the mountain unsafe on the day of your hike, we do not take risks. We will try to move your activity to another day during your trip when conditions improve. If that does not work with your schedule, you receive a full refund. Safety always comes first.
Is all winter equipment included in the price?
Yes. Technical gear (whether the trail requires snowshoes or microspikes) and trekking poles are fully included. You only bring your personal boots and warm and waterproof clothing.
What if I am travelling alone?
Most of our guests join solo or as couples. Because our groups are capped at 8 people, the atmosphere is easygoing and informal. You will not be walking with a crowd of strangers on a mega-tour.
What if I need to cancel my trip?
Life happens. If you need to cancel up to 7 days before the start date, you receive a full refund. No stress and no endless paperwork.
If something comes up last minute within those 7 days, let us know as soon as possible and we will do our best to reschedule your dates.

Spectacular hikes with TRAD!
I had never used crampons or snowshoes and they helped me a lot. We did several routes and everything was great.
Furthermore, their recommendations (places to eat, saunas, accommodation, routes, towns, views...) were all amazing.
They are very nice and very professional. Without a doubt, the best option to get to know Lofoten!
