THE EXPERIENCE
We start at the meeting point, where your guide welcomes you and the group. Beforehand, we’ll already have talked to make sure everyone has a similar fitness level and the right expectations.
In Lofoten, winter weather changes fast, so we confirm the final plan the day before, choosing the best route according to conditions.
At the start, your guide gives a short briefing: how to move efficiently with snowshoes on steeper ground, how we’ll progress together as a team, and what to expect during the day. We’ll also go through the forecast and how it might affect our route. That's part of the real arctic experience.
Once ready, we begin our ascent. The hike usually lasts around four hours with about 500 meters of elevation gain. The pace is steady and flexible, adapted to the group and the conditions. As we climb, the landscape opens up: snow-covered valleys below, sharp ridges ahead, and that incredible winter light that makes everything glow.
We stop often to catch our breath, take photos, or simply enjoy the silence. Reaching the summit is always a highlight: the views stretch endlessly over the sea and mountains, and it’s the perfect moment to pause, share a snack, and feel what you’ve just achieved.
Then comes the best part: the descent. Moving downhill through snow feels light and playful, and the group always ends the day with a mix of tired legs and big smiles.
Back at the starting point, we wrap up with a short debrief, maybe share a coffee, and talk about other routes, hikes, or plans for your next adventure in Lofoten.
WHY WITH TRAD?
Winter in Lofoten can be wild, unpredictable, and that’s exactly why we love it! Our guides live here year-round and know how to read the weather, the snow, and the light to make every outing both safe and unforgettable.
When you join a Snowshoe Summit with TRAD, you’re not just following a track, you’re sharing the kind of experience locals live for. We choose routes that match the group, adjust to the conditions, and find those quiet peaks where it’s just you, the wind, and the view.
It’s real, it’s raw, and it’s what we do best: small-group adventures that make you feel connected to the mountains and to the moment.

Javi guided us up to Geitgalljen in a fantastic skitouring day full of adventure. I would totally repeat this experience or any other with TRAD. Javi is a great guide, very professional and always making sure that you are going to have a great adventure, while being safe.

Spectacular hikes with TRAD!
I had never used crampons or snowshoes and they helped me a lot. We did several routes and everything was great.
Furthermore, their recommendations (places to eat, saunas, accommodation, routes, towns, views...) were all amazing.
They are very nice and very professional. Without a doubt, the best option to get to know Lofoten!
Sander Brakel, Australia
Incredible skiing and mountaineering experience with TRAD for a whole week. Even though they weren't having the best days, they knew how to find the best corners to enjoy a complete adventure!
