Bare Blåbær is one of the most elegant and popular long routes around Henningsvær. Climbing a beautiful sweep of compact granite slabs and crack systems, it offers a full multi-pitch adventure in a spectacular ocean setting.
THE HISTORY
First climbed in 1986 by Tim Hansen and Ingun Raastad, Bare Blåbær quickly gained a reputation as one of the finest moderate multi-pitch routes in the region. Its clean granite, varied movement and inspiring position above Djupfjorden have made it a favourite objective for both locals and visiting climbers looking for a classic Lofoten experience.
Over time, it has become one of the most repeated long routes in the area, not because it is the easiest to reach, but because the climbing quality is consistently excellent from bottom to top.
THE EXPERIENCE
The climb follows a natural line through slabs, grooves and crack systems over seven pitches, offering a sustained and enjoyable progression on perfect granite.
Throughout the route you can expect:
– Technical slab climbing.
– Beautiful finger and hand cracks ideal for learning and improving traditional techniques.
– Sections of V-groove climbing.
– A long and aesthetic upper crack system leading to easier angled terrain near the top.
It is an ideal step into longer routes and a perfect introduction to the rhythm of multi-pitch climbing in Lofoten.
The approach itself is part of the adventure, following a path along the fjord before reaching the base of the climb, around 1,5 hours. After the climb, the descent is made by abseiling down established anchors, offering one last chance to enjoy the dramatic landscape.

Summiting Bare Blåbær isn't just about the top, it's a truly memorable day out. You'll build confidence on a wild, coastal climb up one of Lofoten's most stunning rock faces.
