THE HISTORY
The first recorded ascent took place in 1910, achieved by Ferdinand Schjelderup, Alf Bonnevie Bryn, and Carl Wilhelm Rubenson. This ascent marked a historic moment in Norwegian climbing and paved the way for future generations of climbers. Since then, Svolværgeita has become a popular destination for climbing enthusiasts, both local and international.
The most famous route is "The Goat Leap," which culminates in an iconic challenge: the leap between the two horns. While it may seem terrifying, it is relatively safe for experienced climbers and represents a rite of passage for many.
Other routes, such as the classic south face route, vary in difficulty, making Svolværgeita accessible to both beginners and experts.
With its combination of history, technical challenges, and spectacular scenery, climbing Svolværgeita is an unforgettable experience and a symbol of the adventurous spirit of Lofoten.
THE EXPERIENCE
We’ll start with a 40-minute hike from the parking lot at the base of Svolværgeita, crossing typical arctic mountain terrain. Once at the base of the wall, your certified guide will gear you up and explain everything you need to know to climb safely.
We'll ascend a classic two-pitch route all the way to the twin horns at the summit, where you'll enjoy spectacular views of the fjord, the surrounding mountains, and the town of Svolvær.
The climb is suitable for anyone in good physical condition, with no previous experience required. You'll be secured by rope and safety gear at all times.
This is a unique opportunity to experience real vertical adventure in one of Norway’s most breathtaking landscapes.
